If you take sedatives or sleeping pills regularly over a certain period of time, the body gets used to them. If you suddenly take significantly fewer sedatives or sleeping pills or stop taking them altogether, you may experience physical and mental symptoms. You may feel restless, sweat, and tremble. Their heart may also be racing and they may have a headache. You may also experience a seizure. These are known as withdrawal symptoms.
