Der Harnleiter ist ein dünner Muskelschlauch im Bauch. Es gibt normalerweise auf jeder Seite einen Harnleiter. Der Urin fließt von der Niere über den Harnleiter in die Harnblase. Wenn man Wasser lassen muss, dann fließt der Urin aus der Harnblase über die Harnröhre nach außen.
Ihr Harnleiter ist an einer Stelle verengt oder abgeknickt. Dadurch kann der Urin nicht so gut von der Niere in die Blase fließen. Der Urin staut sich aber noch nicht in die Niere zurück.
