Die Harnblase ist wie ein Ballon. Innen gibt es einen Hohlraum. Um diesen Hohlraum herum liegt die Harnblasenwand. In der Harnblasenwand liegt ein Muskel. Wenn sich der Muskel in der Harnblasenwand zusammen zieht, dann wird der Urin aus der Harnblase nach außen befördert.
Der Muskel in der Harnblasenwand wird durch Nerven gesteuert. Vom Rückenmark und vom Gehirn aus verlaufen viele Nerven zu den Organen, zur Haut und zu den Muskeln im Körper. Wenn die Nerven, das Gehirn oder das Rückenmark beschädigt sind, dann kann der Muskel in der Harnblase nicht mehr richtig arbeiten. Nerven, Gehirn und Rückenmark können zum Beispiel durch andere Erkrankungen oder nach Operationen beschädigt sein.
Der Muskel in Ihrer Harnblasenwand arbeitet zu wenig. Es bleibt dann oft noch Urin in der Harnblase zurück. Man hat dann oft ein unangenehmes Gefühl, dass die Harnblase nicht ganz leer ist. Die Harnblase kann sich auch öfter entzünden.
