Die Nabelschnur verbindet während der Schwangerschaft den kindlichen und den mütterlichen Blut-Kreislauf. Über die Blutgefäße in der Nabelschnur wird das Kind mit Nährstoffen und Sauerstoff versorgt.
Wenn die Nabelschnur zu kurz ist, dann kann das Kind während der Geburt möglicherweise nicht richtig ins Becken absinken.
