Zu den Harnwegen gehören die Harnleiter, die Harnblase und die Harnröhre. Von den beiden Nieren fließt der Urin über die Harnleiter in die Harnblase. Die Harnröhre leitet den Urin aus der Harnblase nach außen ab. Die Harnwege können sich entzünden, wenn Bakterien aus dem Darm durch die Harnröhre in die Harnblase gelangen. Dies kann zu häufigem Harndrang und Brennen beim Wasserlassen führen. Die Entzündung kann sich auch durch die Harnleiter bis zu den Nieren ausbreiten. Man kann dann Fieber und Schmerzen bekommen.
