Eine entzündete Brustwarze kann schmerzhaft sein. Die Schmerzen können insbesondere dann auftreten, wenn das Kind zu Beginn des Stillens die Brustwarze ansaugt. Die Brustwarze kann außerdem gerötet, geschwollen oder wärmer sein als normalerweise.
