Bei der Geburt durch die Scheide wirkt ein großer Druck auf das Kind. Dieser Druck ist notwendig, damit das Kind durch das Becken und die Scheide geboren werden kann. Durch den Druck in Verbindung mit dem engen Geburtsweg können beim Kind Verletzungen im Gesicht entstehen. Verletzungen können aber auch bei einem Kaiserschnitt oder dem Einsatz einer Geburtszange oder Saugglocke entstehen.

Während der Geburt können beim Kind verschiedene Verletzungen im Gesicht entstehen. Es kann zum Beispiel passieren, dass sich das Blut im Kopf für eine gewisse Zeit staut. Dann sieht das kindliche Gesicht möglicherweise gerötet oder geschwollen aus.
