Das Herz wurde vorübergehend nicht richtig mit Sauerstoff versorgt.

Sauerstoff gelangt über die Atemluft und die Lunge ins Blut. Vor der Geburt wird das Kind über die Nabelschnur durch das mütterliche Blut mit Sauerstoff versorgt. Das Herz ist ein großer Muskel. Damit das Herz pumpen kann, muss es mit Sauerstoff versorgt werden.

Es gibt verschiedene Ursachen dafür, dass das Herz eines Neugeborenen vorübergehend nicht richtig mit Sauerstoff versorgt wurde. Beispielsweise gelangt nicht ausreichend Sauerstoff zum Herz, wenn das Herz nicht richtig durchblutet wird. Es kann auch sein, dass vorübergehend nicht ausreichend Sauerstoff im Blut vorhanden ist. Das kann zum Beispiel der Fall sein, wenn Probleme mit der Sauerstoff-Versorgung auftreten. Wenn das Herz nicht ausreichend Sauerstoff bekommt, kann der Herzmuskel geschädigt werden.
