Während der Zeit um die Geburt ist eine Blutung am kindlichen Gehirn entstanden.
Das Gehirn besteht aus mehreren Bereichen. Im Großhirn findet zum Beispiel das Denken und das Planen von Handlungen statt. Im Kleinhirn werden Bewegungen vorbereitet und aufeinander abgestimmt. Der Hirnstamm ist für verschiedene unbewusste Aufgaben zuständig, wie zum Beispiel das Atmen. Der Hirnstamm geht in das Rückenmark über.
Je nach dem in welchem Bereich des Hirngewebes eine Blutung auftritt, können unterschiedliche Anzeichen beim Kind auftreten. Bei kleinen Blutungen bemerkt man möglicherweise keine äußeren Anzeichen.
