Wenn sich Gewebe während der Entstehung im Mutterleib nicht richtig entwickeln, kann es zu Fehlbildungen kommen. Bei dieser Fehlbildung wird das Gewebe für das Auge gar nicht oder nicht richtig gebildet.
Die Entwicklung des Auges kann beispielsweise durch veränderte Erbinformationen gestört sein. Bestimmte Einflüsse während der Schwangerschaft können die Entwicklung des Auges ebenfalls stören.
