Während der Entwicklung im Mutterleib entstehen im Körper viele verschiedene Arten von Gewebe. Aus den verschiedenen Arten von Gewebe entwickeln sich die Organe und Körperteile. Die Gewebe können während der Entwicklung im Mutterleib ihre Form und ihre Lage im Körper verändern. Manche Gewebe verschmelzen miteinander. Andere Gewebe bilden sich während der Entwicklung auch teilweise zurück. Wenn sich Gewebe nicht richtig entwickeln, kann es zu Fehlbildungen kommen.
Eine zusätzliche Hautfalte am Hals nennt man auch Flügelfell. Wenn sich die Hautfalte an der Seite vom Hals befindet, liegt sie zwischen dem Knochenvorsprung hinter dem Ohr und der Schulterhöhe. Die Schulterhöhe ist ein tastbarer Knochen-Vorsprung oben an der Schulter. Eine zusätzliche Hautfalte kann auch mittig am Hals liegen. In diesem Fall kann die Hautfalte beispielsweise am Kinn beginnen und bis zum oberen Ende des Brustbeins reichen.
