Das Herz pumpt Blut durch den Körper. Das Herz hat im Inneren 4 Hohlräume. Es gibt 2 Herzvorhöfe und 2 Herzkammern. Die beiden Herzvorhöfe und die beiden Herzkammern sind jeweils durch eine Scheidewand voneinander getrennt.
Ihr Herz hat sich vor der Geburt nicht richtig entwickelt. Deshalb fließt bei Ihnen das Blut aus den beiden Herzvorhöfen nur in eine Herzkammer. Das Blut in der Herzkammer ist eine Mischung aus sauerstoffarmem und sauerstoffreichem Blut.
Man kann bei diesem Herzfehler verschiedene Beschwerden haben. Wenn der Körper nicht ausreichend mit Sauerstoff versorgt wird, dann kann die Haut bläulich erscheinen. Häufig hat man auch Luftnot und fühlt sich schnell erschöpft. Die Beschwerden können schon kurz nach der Geburt beginnen.
