Das Herz pumpt Blut durch den Körper. Das Herz hat im Inneren 4 Hohlräume. Es gibt 2 Herzvorhöfe und 2 Herzkammern. Die beiden Herzvorhöfe und die beiden Herzkammern sind jeweils durch eine Scheidewand voneinander getrennt.
Durch eine Fehlbildung am Herzen kann der Blutfluss im Herzen verändert sein. Dadurch kann man verschiedene Beschwerden haben. Möglicherweise bekommt man schlecht Luft und fühlt sich schwach oder abgeschlagen. Die Haut kann bläulich erscheinen. Die Beschwerden können schon kurz nach der Geburt beginnen oder sich erst später entwickeln.
