Die Speiseröhre verbindet den Mund mit dem Magen. Sie besteht aus einem Muskelschlauch. Die Muskeln in der Speiseröhre befördern die Nahrung in den Magen. Wenn sich Gewebe nicht richtig entwickeln, kann es zu Fehlbildungen kommen.
Eine verengte Speiseröhre kann verschiedene Beschwerden verursachen. Die Nahrung kann dabei nur eingeschränkt durch die Speiseröhre in den Magen gelangen. Beim Schlucken kann das zu Schmerzen oder einem brennenden Gefühl hinter dem Brustbein führen. Es kann auch sein, dass die Nahrung aus der Speiseröhre wieder zurück in den Mund gelangt.
