Der Urin fließt normalerweise von der Niere über den Harnleiter in die Harnblase. In der Harnblase wird der Urin gesammelt. Durch die Harnröhre kann der Urin dann abgelassen werden.
Während der Entwicklung im Mutterleib entstehen im Körper viele verschiedene Arten von Gewebe. Aus den verschiedenen Arten von Gewebe entwickeln sich die Organe und Körperteile. Es kann sein, dass die Harnblase und die Harnröhre sich unvollständig oder fehlerhaft gebildet haben. Es kann auch sein, dass Harnblase und Harnröhre ganz fehlen. Aufgrund der Fehlbildung kann unkontrolliert Urin abgeht. Es ist aber auch möglich, dass das Wasserlassen erschwert ist.
