Wenn man spricht, dann haben die gesprochenen Wörter bei jedem Menschen einen ganz bestimmten Klang. Das ist die Stimme. Die Stimme entsteht im Kehlkopf und durch die Bewegungen von Mund und Rachen.
Der Kehlkopf ist wichtig für die Atmung und für das Sprechen. Er besteht vor allem aus Knorpel, Bändern und Muskeln. Auch die Stimmbänder liegen im Kehlkopf. Den Kehlkopf kann man besonders gut bei Männern vorne am Hals als vorgewölbte Stelle sehen. Diese Stelle heißt auch Adamsapfel. Der Rachen beginnt hinter dem Mund und der Nase. Der Rachen verbindet den Mund und die Nase mit der Luftröhre und der Speiseröhre.
