Die Prostata gehört zu den Geschlechtsorganen des Mannes. Die Prostata liegt unter der Harnblase und umschließt die Harnröhre. Man nennt die Prostata auch Vorsteherdrüse. In der Prostata wird ein Teil der Samenflüssigkeit gebildet. In der Prostata wird das Protein PSA gebildet. Wenn die Menge an PSA im Blut verändert ist, dann kann das ein Hinweis auf eine Erkrankung der Prostata sein. Die Menge an PSA kann aber auch verändert sein, wenn man vor der Untersuchung zum Beispiel Fahrrad gefahren ist oder Sex hatte.
