Blutgefäße befördern das Blut vom Herz zu den verschiedenen Geweben und Organen im Körper und wieder zurück. Dadurch versorgen sie die Gewebe und Organe mit Sauerstoff und Nährstoffen und transportieren auch Abfallstoffe ab.
Wenn ein Blutgefäß verletzt ist, dann kann es bluten. Das Blut kann sich im Gewebe ansammeln. Das Gewebe kann dann anschwellen und man kann Schmerzen haben. Wenn es unter der Haut blutet, dann kann sich ein blauer Fleck bilden. Bei einer starken Blutung oder einer großen Verletzung kann man in kurzer Zeit viel Blut verlieren.
