Opiode sind eine Gruppe von Stoffen, die Schmerzen lindern können und in bestimmten Mengen aufheiternd wirken. Zu den Opioiden gehört zum Beispiel das Schmerzmittel Morphin. Auch das Hustenmittel Codein ist ein Opioid.
Ein Stoff kann zum Beispiel eine Vergiftung verursachen, wenn man zu viel davon eingenommen hat. Es kann auch sein, dass man den Stoff aus Versehen bekommen oder eingenommen hat.
Bei einer Vergiftung durch ein Opioid kann es zum Beispiel zu Übelkeit, Erbrechen oder Verstopfung kommen. Die Pupillen sind typischerweise verengt. Man kann Probleme mit der Konzentration haben oder schläfrig werden. Möglicherweise atmet man nicht mehr genug. Es kann auch sein, dass man das Bewusstsein verliert.
