Vitamine sind Stoffe, die der Körper für viele Aufgaben braucht. Die meisten Vitamine kann der Körper nicht selbst herstellen. Diese Vitamine müssen mit der Nahrung aufgenommen werden.
Manche Vitamine können eine Vergiftung verursachen, wenn man zu viel davon eingenommen hat. Zu diesen Vitaminen zählen zum Beispiel Vitamin A und Vitamin D. Bei bestimmten Vorerkrankungen können auch versehentlich eingenommene Vitamine in normaler Dosierung Vergiftungen verursachen.
Eine Vergiftung mit Vitamin A oder Vitamin D kann beispielsweise zu Übelkeit und Erbrechen führen. Man kann sich auch benommen fühlen oder verwirrt sein. Eine Vergiftung mit Vitamin D kann außerdem die Funktion der Niere und anderer Organe beeinträchtigen.
