Je nachdem welches hustenstillende Medikamente die Vergiftung verursacht hat, können unterschiedliche Beschwerden auftreten. Es kann zum Beispiel zu Übelkeit oder Erbrechen kommen. Manche hustenstillenden Medikamente können Müdigkeit oder sogar Bewusstlosigkeit verursachen. Es kann auch sein, dass die Atmung beeinträchtigt wird. Möglicherweise bekommt man auch Krampfanfälle.
