Die Prostata gehört zu den Geschlechtsorganen des Mannes. Die Prostata liegt unter der Harnblase und umschließt die Harnröhre. Man nennt die Prostata auch Vorsteherdrüse. In der Prostata wird ein Teil der Samenflüssigkeit gebildet.
Bei der Untersuchung hat man geschaut, ob Sie eine Tumor-Erkrankung haben. Das Gewebe im Körper besteht aus Zellen. Bei einer Tumor-Erkrankung vermehren sich die Zellen stärker als normalerweise. Dadurch bildet sich neues Gewebe. Ein Tumor kann gutartig oder bösartig sein. Es kann zum Beispiel sein, dass Gewebestücke untersucht wurden. Manchmal macht man auch Bilder vom Inneren der Prostata.
