Die Eizellen reifen in den Eierstöcken heran. Um schwanger zu werden, muss eine reife Eizelle durch Spermien befruchtet werden.
Es gibt verschiedene Verfahren der künstlichen Befruchtung. Bei Ihnen wurde ein Verfahren angewendet, bei dem man reife Eizellen aus den Eierstöcken entnimmt. Die Eizellen werden im Labor künstlich befruchtet. Anschließend werden eine oder mehrere befruchtete Eizellen in die Gebärmutter eingeführt. Die Eizellen sollen sich dann in der Gebärmutter einnisten und zu einem Kind entwickeln.
