Das Herz pumpt das Blut durch den Körper. Das Herz kann durch verschiedene Krankheiten geschädigt werden. Ihr Herz wurde wahrscheinlich stark geschädigt und kann das Blut nicht kräftig genug pumpen. Sie haben deshalb ein Gerät bekommen, das Ihr Herz unterstützt. Dieses Gerät kann in den Körper eingesetzt werden. Es kann aber auch sein, dass das Gerät außerhalb vom Körper ist. Meistens wird das Gerät an große Blutgefäße angeschlossen. Das Gerät pumpt dann das Blut gemeinsam mit dem Herzen durch den Körper. Es gibt auch Geräte, die das Blut komplett alleine pumpen. Das ist zum Beispiel notwendig, wenn das eigene Herz gar nicht mehr pumpt.
