A pacemaker usually consists of a small device with a battery. The pacemaker can emit electrical impulses.A brain pacemaker is usually implanted under the skin. There are also devices that are worn outside the body.
The device generates electricity. This electricity is sent via wires to different parts of the brain as an electrical signal. The aim is to favorably affect the activity on the surface of the brain.
A wire from a brain pacemaker was implanted into your brain as a trial. This makes it possible to test whether a particular treatment is suitable for you. The wire was then removed again.
