A pacemaker usually consists of a small device with a battery. The pacemaker can emit electrical impulses.
A nerve pacemaker is usually implanted under the skin of the chest. The electrical impulses are conducted to nerves on your carotid artery via one or more cable ends.
The carotid artery runs on both sides of the neck upwards towards the head. Amongst other things, these nerves on the carotid artery measure blood pressure level. They can also affect blood pressure via messenger substances.
