The nasal septum divides the nasal cavity into the left and right nasal passages. The nostrils are the openings into these two nasal passages.The septum is made of bones and cartilage. A haematoma formed on the bone or cartilage within your nasal septum.
The incision was made during surgery to allow the blood to drain out of the haematoma. This should relieve the pressure on the tissue in your nose.
