OPS-Code 5-211.20:

Operations on the nose: Incision in the nose: Drainage of a septal abscess: Without insertion of septal support foils

A abscess in your nasal septum was opened with an incision.

The nasal septum divides the nasal cavity into the left and right nasal passages. The nostrils are the openings into these two nasal passages.

An abscess is an accumulation of pus, which is a fluid produced by the body. Pus is produced when the body is fighting an infection. A thin covering may form around an accumulation of pus.

The incision was made during surgery to allow the pus to drain out of the abscess.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
