You had surgery to straighten your nasal septum and outer nose.
We need our noses for breathing and smelling. The outside of the nose is composed of bone and cartilage. The nasal septum divides the nasal cavity into two halves. The inside of the nose is lined with a moist mucous membrane. The nasal concha are bony protrusions in the nose, and also lined with mucous membrane.
The surgery caused breaks in the skin of your nose. Skin from another part of your body was used to close these breaks in the skin. Grafts can be taken from adjacent skin on the face or from another site further away on the body for this purpose.
