The paranasal sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull. They are each connected to the nasal cavity via an opening that forms the inside of the nose. The paranasal sinuses are lined internally with mucous membrane. There are four different paranasal sinuses.The sphenoidal sinus is located behind the nose inside the skull.
This operation can remove pathologically altered tissue in the area of the paranasal sinuses. The paranasal sinuses can also be used as a point of access for surgery on other parts of the head.
