Your frontal sinus was surgically opened.
The paranasal sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull. They are each connected to the nasal cavity via an opening that forms the inside of the nose. The paranasal sinuses are lined internally with mucous membrane. There are four different paranasal sinuses.The frontal sinus is above the eyebrows behind the forehead.
Your operation involved opening your frontal sinus through an external incision. Bones were then removed from the anterior (front) wall of your frontal sinus. The bones were put back in place at the end of the operation.
