OPS-Code 5-224.y:

Operations on the paranasal sinuses: Operations on multiple paranasal sinuses: Unspecified

You had surgery on more than one of your sinuses.

The sinuses are cavities in the skull that are filled with air. They have an inner lining of a moist and smooth membrane. This inner membrane is also called the mucous membrane. The mucous membrane produces fluid. Each of these paranasal sinuses are connected to the nose via an opening. As a result, fluid can run out of the sinuses into the nose. There are paranasal sinuses in the upper jaw, the forehead and behind the nose.
