You have had an operation to raise a rib depression.
A costal depression can occur with scoliosis. With scoliosis, the spine is curved and twisted. The spine is connected to the ribs. That is why, in cases of scoliosis, the ribs on one side of the body often protrude while those on the other side are flattened. This flattening is known as a rib depression.
To adjust the rib depression, your ribs at the rib depression were detached from your spine. The ribs were raised and then re-attached in a modified position.
