OPS-Code 5-388.05:
Incision, excision and closure of blood vessels: Suture of blood vessels: Carotid artery, stent
You have had a synthetic tube in your carotid artery sealed.
Arteries are blood vessels that transport blood away from the heart. They supply all the tissue in the body with oxygen-rich blood.
There is a large cartoid artery on either side of the front of the neck. In its course, the carotid artery divides into several branches. One artery runs through an opening in the skull and supplies blood to the brain. The other artery supplies blood to the face.
In the past you had a small tube implanted into the artery in your head or neck. The purpose of this type of synthetic tube is to keep an artery open.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

- R: Right
