A stent in your esophagus was made fully functional once more.
The oesophagus or gullet connects the mouth with the stomach. It is made up of a muscular tube. The muscles in the oesophagus move food into the stomach.If some disorder has narrowed the oesophagus, it can be kept open using a tube or a stent. This type of stent often consists of a metal mesh.
Over time, a stent can also get constricted itself. For example, this can happen if tissue from the esophagus grows into the metal mesh of the stent. To make the stent fully functional once more, you had a esophageal endoscopy.An oesophageal endoscopy involves inserting an examination instrument via the mouth or nose and advancing it into the oesophagus. Such a device may be a flexible or rigid tube. Images from the oesophagus are transmitted via a camera or multiple lenses. Small instruments such as forceps can also be introduced into the oesophagus through the tube.During the esophageal endoscopy a tool can be used to open the stent again.
