OPS-Code 5-42a.1:
Operations on the oesophagus: Other operations on the oesophagus: Endoscopic reconstruction of oesophageal passage using combined antegrade-retrograde technique
Your oesophagus should be made patent again.
An oesophageal endoscopy is performed to make the oesophagus patent again. An oesophageal endoscopy involves inserting an examination instrument via the mouth or nose and advancing it into the oesophagus. Such a device may be a flexible or rigid tube. Images from the oesophagus are transmitted via a camera or multiple lenses. Small instruments such as forceps can also be introduced into the oesophagus through the tube.
A hose or tube is also inserted into the oesophagus via the abdomen. The surgeon will then try to widen the oesophagus from the top and bottom to make it patent again.
