OPS-Code 5-524.02:
Operations on the pancreas: Partial resection of the pancreas: Left-sided resection (without anastomosis): Conversion laparoscopic – open surgical
The left part of your pancreas was surgically removed.
The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example. The pancreas is made up of 3 parts: the head, the body and the tail. The head of the pancreas is right next to the first part of the small intestine. The body of the pancreas sits in front of the aorta. Other important blood vessels run along the body of the pancreas. The tail of the pancreas sits to the left of the abdomen next to the spleen.
First you had a laparoscopy. A laparoscopy first involves making a small incision in the abdomen. A tube with a camera is pushed through this incision into the abdomen. This camera sends pictures of the inside of the abdomen to a screen. Tools such as forceps and scissors can be inserted through other small incisions in the abdomen. A large incision was then made in your abdomen.
