The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example.
The pancreas is located near the stomach. To treat your pancreas, a tube with an ultrasound probe was first inserted via your mouth. The tube was then pushed down into your stomach. This allowed your pancreas to be examined with ultrasound through the wall of your stomach. Various small instruments can also be passed into to the pancreas through the tube. This allows the pancreas to be treated from outside the body.
You had a tube implanted from your stomach into the cavity in your pancreas. This type of tube provides an artificial connection between the pancreas and the stomach. The fluid from the cavity in your pancreas can then drain into your stomach through the tube. Several tubes are sometimes implanted for better drainage of the fluid. These tubes normally remain in the body for a period of time before being removed.
