OPS-Code 5-529.r2:

Operations on the pancreas: Other operations on the pancreas and pancreatic duct: Transduodenal drainage of a pancreatic cyst: Endoscopic with insertion of a non-self-expanding stent

Fluid was drained from a cyst in your pancreas.

The pancreas is located in the upper abdomen. It regulates the sugar content in the blood and forms substances for digestion, for example. These substances are directed into the duodenum via the pancreatic duct.

A cyst is a cavity filled with fluid. To drain the fluid, a small tube was inserted from the cyst to your duodenum.

An endoscopy was performed to insert the tube. This form of endoscopy involves advancing a tube into the duodenum via the mouth. There is a camera at the top of the tube. The camera transmits images of the inside of the body to a screen. Instruments can also be inserted through the tube.
