OPS-Code 5-541.4:

Other operations in the abdominal region and additional information about digestive tract surgery: Laparotomy and opening of the retroperitoneum: Creation of a temporary closure in the abdominal wall

You had abdominal surgery.

The operation involved opening your abdominal cavity via an incision in your abdominal wall.

Your abdominal wall was then temporarily closed using synthetic material. A mesh can be sewn into the abdominal wall for this purpose. The abdominal wall may be temporarily closed if, for example, another operation will be necessary at a later point. The pressure in the abdominal cavity may also be too high or there may be a risk of excessively high pressure. If pressure becomes too high in the abdominal cavity, organs may be damaged or sutures may pull apart.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
