During a laparoscopy, tissue was removed from the space between the thin membrane of your abdominal cavity and your back.
Between the thin membrane of the abdominal wall and the back there is a space that contains a lot of connective tissue and fat. The kidneys, pancreas, part of the large intestine and aorta for instance are located in this space.
A laparoscopy first involves making a small incision in the abdomen. A tube with a camera is pushed through this incision into the abdomen. This camera sends pictures of the inside of the abdomen to a screen. Tools such as forceps and scissors can be inserted through other small incisions in the abdomen.
