OPS-Code 5-652.61:

Operations on the ovary: Ovariectomy: Total: Vaginal, laparoscopy-assisted

Your ovary was surgically removed.

The ovaries are part of the female genitals. There are 2 ovaries, one on each side. The ovaries sit low down in the abdomen.

The operation was carried out via your vagina. You also had a laparoscopy. A laparoscopy first involves making a small incision in the abdomen. A tube with a camera is pushed through this incision into the abdomen. This camera sends pictures of the inside of the abdomen to a screen. Tools such as forceps and scissors can be inserted through other small incisions in the abdomen.
