OPS-Code 5-784.4p:

Operations on other bones: Bone transplantation and transposition: Bone transplantation, vascular pedicled with microvascular anastomosis: Proximal fibula

You had an operation to place bone material in your fibula.

There are 2 bones in the lower leg, the tibia and the fibula. The tibia is on the inside of the leg. The fibula is on the outside of the leg. Both bones in the lower leg have an upper, middle and lower section. The top end of the tibia is connected to the femur by the knee joint. The top ends of the tibia and fibula are also connected by a joint just below the knee joint.

The bone material was placed at the upper end of the fibula. The bone material for your fibula was taken from another part of your body beforehand.

Blood vessels supply the bones with oxygen and nutrients, among other things. A special technique was used for your operation. The bone material remained connected with its original site by means of a blood vessel and pedicle (tissue bridge). This blood vessel was not severed. As a result, the supply of blood to the bone material was not interrupted. Small blood vessels attached to the bone material were also connected to the blood vessels of the fibula. This should help the bone material to fuse.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
