Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers.The thumb consists of 2 finger bones. The other fingers consist of 3 finger bones.The bones in a joint are covered with cartilage. When the joint is moved, the cartilage prevents the bones from rubbing against one another. The cartilage is normally strong and elastic, with a smooth surface.
The bone material for your finger bones was taken together with cartilage from another part of your body beforehand.
