The kneecap sits at the front of the knee. It protects the knee joint. It is also important for knee movements. When you bend and stretch the knee, the kneecap slides along the femur. Firm tissue connects the kneecap to the muscle at the front of the thigh and to the tibia.The patellar tendon is made of strong connective tissue. It runs from the kneecap to the tibia. You can feel the tendon between the kneecap and the tibia.
