The foot is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The lower leg is connected to the tarsus. Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes.The tarsus consists of 7 tarsal bones. The tarsal bones form the rear part of the foot.The ankle bone is a tarsal bone. The foot connects to the lower leg via the talus. This connection is known as the upper ankle joint.
You had a tube inserted into your upper ankle joint. This tube was used to flush out the joint. Your operation was carried out via an arthroscopy.An arthroscopy first involves making a small incision in the skin. A thin tube is advanced through this incision. There is a camera at the top of the tube. The camera transmits images of the inside of the joint to a screen. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be inserted into the joint through other small incisions.
