OPS-Code 5-870.a7:

Excision and resection of the mamma: Partial (breast-conserving) excision of the mamma and destruction of mamma tissue: Partial resection: Defect coverage by distant free flap with microsurgical vascular connection

Tissue has been removed from your breast.

The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed.

The operation involved making an incision in your skin in order to remove tissue from your breast. Part of the skin or nipple may also be removed. A metal clip was then attached to the breast tissue at this site. This allows the precise site to be located later, for example, during surgery. To ensure that the breast retains as natural a shape as possible, any tissue that was removed is replaced. Tissue from another part of your own body was used for this purpose.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides
