OPS-Code 5-904.2a:
Surgical restoration and reconstruction of skin and hypoderm: Flap in skin and hypoderm, donor site: Distant pedicle flap: Chest wall and back
Skin tissue with subcutaneous tissue was removed from your chest wall or back for use on another area of the body.
The skin is made up of multiple layers. The epidermis is on the outside. The epidermis does not get any blood. Below this is the dermis. There are lots of blood vessels and nerves in the dermis. Below the dermis is the subcutaneous tissue. It contains fatty tissue and connective tissue.
The tissue remains connected with the original site by means of a blood vessel. The blood vessel was not initially severed. As a result, the tissue can continue to be supplied with blood. This should help the tissue to fuse with other tissue at the new site.
