OPS-Code 8-527.7:
Radiotherapy: Construction and adjustment of fixation and treatment aids in radiotherapy: Attachment of stereotactic frame
Special devices were fabricated and customized for your treatment with radiation.
Treatment with radiation is also called radiotherapy.Radiotherapy involves the use of a device that forms particularly high-energy rays. These rays are used to target radiation at specific areas of the body to destroy diseased tissue. Radiation is carried out in such a way that healthy tissue is protected as much as possible.
These devices can be used to keep your body in a fixed position during radiotherapy. A special ring-shaped frame can be used to keep your head safely in a fixed position while your head is being treated with radiotherapy. This ring-shaped frame is normally fitted onto the head under local anesthetic. These are intended to ensure that only the planned areas to be treated are targeted with radiation.
