OPS-Code 8-528.6:
Radiotherapy: Radiation simulation for external irradiation and brachytherapy: CT-guided simulation for external irradiation
A simulation was carried out for your treatment with radiation.
Treatment with radiation is also called radiotherapy.Radiotherapy involves the use of a device that forms particularly high-energy rays. These rays are used to target radiation at specific areas of the body to destroy diseased tissue. Radiation is carried out in such a way that healthy tissue is protected as much as possible.
A special machine was used to test out the best procedure for your radiotherapy. This is also known as a simulation. CT images of your body were produced during this simulation. The aim is to ensure that your radiotherapy will be as precise and safe as possible for you.
A CT scan involves sending X-ray beams through the body. Measurements are then taken to see how much of these beams are getting to the other side of the body. A computer then converts the measurements into images of the inside of the body.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
Note
Your doctor will assist you with any health-related questions and explain the OPS code to you in a direct consultation if necessary.
